On the
4th and 5th of June 1999, the European Academy
for Economic and Cultural Relations drew to Rome a hundred
professionals, entrepreneurs and businessmen coming from all over
Italy whose desire was to offer an active contribution to the
activities of the Academy.
On the
morning of Saturday, June 5th, AEREC sponsored a very
important editorial presentation: in the offices of the Province of
Rome, located at the Valentini Palace, the Academic Book of the
International Promotion Institute was presented. This volume contains
hundreds of biographical profiles on the graduates of Honoris Causa.
These
are leading persons of the Italian and International entrepreneurial,
economic and
cultural
society who have distinguished themselves particularly in their sphere
of action. The IPI had also been busy in meritorious social and
charitable activities, consequently,
the
Governing Body of the AEREC decided to sponsor the presentation of the
Academic Book.
On
this occasion, AEREC organized a conference on the subject “The Small
and Medium Concerns in the European Union” with the participation of,
among others, Senator Cosimo Ventucci, who met with a keen interest of
those present.
In the
evening, all of the participants and guests proceeded to the
beautiful
Villa Miani where AEREC had organized a charity performance in honor
of A.M.R.E.F., the African Medical and Research Foundation, which
actively and directly assists the impoverished people of Africa. The
President of AMREF, Senator Susanna Agnelli, was AEREC’s guest of
honor. During the evening, various artists including, singer Anna
Vinci, painter Gianna Buran and the musicians of the “Santa Cecilia”
Conservatory, gave their contributions in order to support the common
cause of AEREC and AMREF.
The
Honorary President of AEREC, Professor Dante Manfredi, delivered a
speech which presented the projects of AEREC. He expressed great
satisfaction regarding the success of the event on behalf of AMREF, a
charity auction which raised several million Italian Lira, and
released the announcement of AEREC’s future endeavors.
On
the morning of Sunday, June 6th, a message of hope and
solidarity was launched from the top of the “Victorian”, the Tomb of
the Unknown Soldier,
where
AEREC had organized a symbolic ceremony. In fact, thanks to a special
order authorized by the Ministry of Defense, AEREC was allowed to
place a crown of laurel on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier which is an
honor traditionally reserved only for Heads of State. After this
celebration, the Academics proceeded to Vatican City in order to
attend the Holy Mass officiated by Vatican Canon, Monsignor Vittorino
Canciani, in St. Peter’s Basilica, which had been made available
specifically for this occasion. |
