The
Institute of S. Mary Consoler, directed by sister Paolilde,
houses young women escaped from difficult familiar situations,
violence and prostitution, pregnant or with small children. It is a
foster house that grants these women physical, psychological and
material assistance as well as the warmth and the protection of a
large family. The European Academy cooperates with sister Paolilde,
supplying the young women with psychological and psychotherapeutic
support, with practical assistance in bureaucratic affairs, it helps
them to find a job and it supplies the material needed.
According to the law, they can stay there for three months, but in
very dramatic situations, this period is not sufficient.
The project of Missione Futuro Onlus is the establishment of
a coordinate and continuative assistance for these cases with the
purpose to perfectly reintegrate them into society.
In practice, this means to rent a group of rooms, independent
apartments or a house where the assisted can live for a period of
time enough to regain confidence and the capability to face life and
society again. An operative staff of the Academy formed by general
practitioners and specialists, psychologists and consultants, all of
them volunteers, will work inside the structure. They will
constantly follow the women’s recovery, offering the necessary
assistance and fostering their integration back into society by
attending training courses and finding a job. The structure will
also be provided with a common room where the women can meet and
give mutual assistance and exchange baby sitting.
We think, this is the only way for them to get over this critical
phase of their life and to start a new life with a renewed optimism
towards future. |
